The Museum has a small collection of elephant bones which were found while the foundations of a house in the proximity of the De Jager House were being excavated. Subsequently a piece of fossilised tooth was added to the collection and there are also currently a number of hippopotamus bones which are not exhibited. We plan to add them to the exhibition.
The society aims to add to its collection in order to form a picture of the pre-historic animal life in the region. This aim was given impetus when Mr. Louw Van Schalkwyk donated two pieces of a fossilised skeleton which he found in the dunes near Jongensfontein. The two pieces fitted perfectly to form the skull of a hyena.
